NO MORE COLD SHOWERS WITH A SHOWER TIMER
Are you getting the blunt end of the stick when you go for a shower late at night ? Just when you want a relaxing, refreshing shower at the end of the day, BAM, another coldie – or you go without till tomorrow.
It’s time you got a hot shower when you need it.
OK we can’t always blame our teenage kids for draining the tank, but it would be true most of the time – right ?
Let me share a nifty solution that will help you keep hot water for your shower – and you’ll be saving on the cost of water and electricity too.
You need to modify human behavior in a way that isn’t offensive, and yet does the job.
Simply put …
SHOWER TIMERS WORK !
Studies have shown that approximately 30% of the total water used in the average New Zealand household is flushed down the drain.
Most of this waste is from showers.
The Shower Timer is an effective method to save water by restricting the time used in consuming water whilst taking a shower.
The shower timer enables you to take control of the water used for showering, so that your household does not have to suffer large bills from water waste. A “comfortable” shower is usually around 6 minutes, and with a shower timer you can restrict the water consumption at 1 minute intervals up to 30 minutes.
This means that if you’re the last one to take a shower there’s now no reason why you would expect to get a cold shower !
Finally, everyone get’s a fair go.
WHICH SHOWER TIMER IS BEST ?
We have a range of shower timers that will do the job for you ! Use our quick look comparison chart to help you determine what you need, based on what we’ve got!
- If you’re chasing a DIY install product, then the battery powered shower timer is one of our most common products for residential purposes.
- If you’re wanting something more robust, then our heavy duty shower timer might be something you’re interested in.
- Our cheapest model is the economy model shower timer and if you have access to an existing 240 volt power point then it’s also a DIY installation as it slips over the top of your shower head.
- Our standard domestic shower timer is installed by cutting into the water lines so a plumber is required, but this unit isn’t installed on the shower head like the battery powered version
- Finally, our PIN / Wireless version is similar to our standard domestic shower timer but it has the ability to allocate PIN codes to shower users so that you can control how many showers they have per day.
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
The Shower Timer is a water saving device which that indicates the remaining shower time visually and audibly and shuts off the water after a predetermined length of time, and then also prevents an immediate follow on shower to stop ‘shower abusers’ from taking even more hot water from the tank.
This stops water (both hot and cold water) from being used until a second timer lapses, allowing the the shower to be used again.
You’ve got total control over the water used: you can set the length of time allowed for an acceptable shower length, as well as the ‘wait time’ between showers. These timers range from 1 to 30 minutes, and are configured separately.
HOW MUCH WATER CAN I SAVE ?
Check out our shower timer savings calculator page to forecast exactly how much you can save.
Let’s take an example.
The flow rate from showers varies from 8 litres per minute to as much as 20 litres per minute.
A 12 minute shower using a water flow rate of 12 litres / minute will use 144 litres of water.
The Shower Timer set to 6 minutes will achieve water savings of 72 litres per shower. In a home where five showers are taken per day, that is an annual water saving of over 130,000 litres and a potential heating saving of more than $1,000 – assuming that everyone was having 12 minute showers, some people (TEENAGERS!) take a lot longer, draining the hot water tank without even batting an eyelid.
STOP TEENAGE HOT WATER ABUSE
The biggest complaint we receive from our customers is that their teenagers are running the house! And there’s seemingly no way of getting control of what they do.
They do what they want, when they want, and don’t want to answer to anyone – especially their parents.
And there’s nothing more self-satisfying than a 30 minute hot shower – or until the water turns cold.
Do they really care about the threats you’ve given them over the years ? Seriously ?
Not really.
You’ve got to put an end to that, and here’s how.
Finally, the shower timer puts the control back in your hands, so that your whole family gets a fair go.
And you can be refreshed at the end of a long day, when you most deserve it.
